Two-time Olympic medal-winning Indian badminton ace PV Sindhu on Wednesday advised aspiring athletes to have good education, warning that “it can be risky if you have a [career threatening] injury or have to undergo surgery.”
Speaking to students at DPS International here, Sindhu said: “I’ve been playing for many years, but at some point you have to retire. You can’t be playing at the highest level till you are 45 or 50 or 60, but education will be with you lifelong. I’ve done my MBA, so I know it’s not easy. You train in the morning, come back, study, and go for evening sessions. But at the end of the day, that’s the truth.
Sports is a very small thing while education will always be by your side.”
