IPL 2026: "Have to learn from our mistakes" Hardik Pandya reacts after RR defeat

Rajasthan Royals defeated Mumbai Indians by 27 runs in a rain-curtailed match in Guwahati. The 2008 champions put on a mammoth 150 runs on the board in 11 overs, as MI crumbled in the run chase. 

Earlier, Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first. RR openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryvanshi started off brilliantly and gave the hosts a fast start. RR managed a huge total of 150 runs in just 11 overs to put themselves firmly in the driver`s seat.

MI batters failed to get going and crumbled under pressure as they lost the match by 27 runs.

Speaking after the defeat, Hardik Pandya admitted that he was disappointed with his team`s batting and hoped that the 5-time champions could recover from two defeats in a row.

“We didn`t execute the deliveries which we were supposed to. They played well. As a bowling group, we need to take responsibility. I would not put this game on the batting. We are talking about 5 good balls, and that`s 5 fewer sixes. He is quite fascinating to see a 17 or a 16-year old boy play so well, and at the same time, the length at which he is being discussed in our plans. It`s good to see him bat. The sun will rise again; we just have to learn from the mistakes.” Hardik Pandya said.

Riyan Parag heaps praise on RR openers

Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag was delighted with his team`s performance. Parag praised his openers for their strong start and his bowlers for executing their plans.

“Feels great. I think the way the boys have shown up is all I can ask for. Kudos to them. I always knew that this team was a strong team, even at the auction. We have a strong core. Jofra`s messaging is go and bowl as fast as you can, even Nandre. Vaibhav and Jaiswal as well. Don`t have words to express. No. 1 opening pair in this combination.” Parag said.

MI have lost their last two matches, while RR have won three in a row and find themselves at the top of the IPL table.
