IPL match called off in Dharamsala amid Pak attack, players rushed out

The IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala on Thursday, May 8 has been called off due to attack from Pakistan in various parts of India. The match was halted after 10.1 overs while PBKS was batting on Thursday and had lost their first wicket. One of the floodlight towers went off and many felt it was a technical failure.

However, two more light towers were switched off and the crowd was asked to leave the stadium. IPL confirmed on their official X account that the match has been abandoned in Dharamshala.

The decision comes after Pakistan attacked several locations in Jammu, including the airport. Rockets were fired at Jammu from across the International Border on Thursday. One of the drones hit the Jammu airport, which prompted the fighter jets to scramble in response. India activated its air defence systems, which was able to successfully intercept the incoming rockets.

India’s air defence system shot down a Pakistan F-16 aircraft after attacks were launched at multiple locations in Jammu and Punjab. Meanwhile, drone attacks have also been foiled in J&K’s Udhampur and Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer, and a drone was shot down in Akhnoor.

Two Kamikaze drones were also shot down in Poonch.

This is a developing story. It will be updated.
