Iran protests LIVE: A US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the United States was pulling some personnel from key bases in the region as a precaution given heightened regional tensions, Reuters reported.
“All the signals are that a US attack is imminent, but that is also how this administration behaves to keep everyone on their toes. Unpredictability is part of the strategy,” a Western military official told Reuters later on Wednesday.
At the White House, however, Trump suggested he was adopting a wait-and-see posture toward the crisis.
While timing remained unclear, two European officials said US military intervention could come in the next 24 hours. An Israeli official also said it appeared Trump had decided to intervene, though the scope and timing remained unclear.

Iran protests LIVE: Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO) said on Wednesday that the 19 days of anti-government nationwide protests in Iran have left at least 3,428 protesters dead and thousands injured.
IHRNGO has learned through sources within the Islamic Republic’s Ministry of Health and Medical Education that, between January 8 and 12 January alone, the deaths of at least 3,379 protesters were registered.

The Indian Embassy in Iran on Wednesday issued an advisory asking Indian nationals who are currently in the country hit by unrest to leave by available means of transport, including commercial flights.
“It is reiterated that all Indian citizens should exercise due caution, avoid areas of protests or demonstrations, stay in contact with the Indian Embassy in Iran and monitor local media for any developments,” the advisory posted on X said.
All Indian nationals in Iran have been advised to have their travel and immigration documents readily available with them.

Iran protests LIVE: US President Donald Trump said Wednesday he was informed the killings of protesters in Iran had been halted, but added that he would “watch it and see” about threatened military action.
Trump had repeatedly talked in recent days about coming to the rescue of the Iranian people over the crackdown on protests by the Khamenei-led clerical regime.
