Ishan Kishan's blistering 64-ball century powers Jharkhand to victory in Vijay Hazare Trophy

NEW DELHI: Ishan Kishan lit up the Vijay Hazare Trophy with a breathtaking century against Manipur on Monday, underlining his ambition to make a strong comeback to the Indian national team.
The wicket-keeper batter and Jharkhand skipper smashed 134 off just 78 balls, leading his team to a dominant eight-wicket victory in Jaipur.
Chasing a target of 254, after minnows Manipur posted 253/7 in their 50 overs, Kishan wasted no time. Opening the innings, he unleashed an aggressive assault on the bowlers, reaching his century in just 64 balls.
Kishan’s innings was studded with 16 fours and six sixes, displaying his trademark combination of power and precision. Batting at a blistering strike rate of 171.79, Kishan ensured Jharkhand overhauled the target in just 28.3 overs.

The performance not only showcased Kishan’s explosive batting skills but also reinforced his leadership credentials. Known for his fearless approach, Kishan’s knock was a timely reminder of his capabilities as he eyes a return to the Indian side.
Manipur, despite a disciplined effort with the bat, struggled to contain the onslaught from Kishan and his team. Jharkhand’s emphatic win highlighted the gap in quality, with Kishan’s performance standing out as the defining moment of the game.
Kishan forged a 196-run opening stand with Utkarsh Singh (68 off 64 balls) to lay the foundation of the run chase. Kumar Kushagra (26 not out off 15 balls) and Anukul Roy (17 not out off 14 balls) then took the team home with ease after the fall of the openers in quick succession.
