Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda’s action film ‘Jaat’ continues to perform well at the box office despite strong competition from Akshay Kumar’s latest release, ‘Kesari Chapter 2’. Jaat Movie Review
‘Jaat’ Box Office Collection Day 13
According to Sacnilk, on Day 13 – the film’s second Tuesday – ‘Jaat’ earned Rs. 2 crore, as per early estimates, taking its total India net collection to Rs. 78.25 crore. The film saw an overall Hindi occupancy of 15.68% on Tuesday, 22 April 2025. There was a slight drop during morning shows, but the numbers improved in the evening and night shows, showing strong audience interest.

A steady start and weekend growth
‘Jaat’ had a decent opening with Rs. 9.5 crore on Day 1. In its first week, the film collected around Rs. 61.75 crore. As per Sacnilk, on Good Friday (Day 9), it made around Rs. 4 crore despite a brewing controversy. On the second weekend, it made Rs. 3.75 crore on Saturday and Rs. 5.15 crore on Sunday, bringing the total to Rs. 74.55 crore. While these numbers were slightly behind ‘Kesari Chapter 2’, they were solid. By Monday (Day 12), morning shows brought in Rs. 19 lakhs. Although that was a drop from Sunday, the film still passed the ‘Monday test’.
The clash with ‘Kesari Chapter 2’
Akshay Kumar’s ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ hit cinemas on 18 April with a strong opening of Rs. 7.5 crore. The film, which focuses on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, features gripping courtroom drama and stars R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday alongside Akshay. Even with this strong competition, ‘Jaat’ held its ground at the box office. While it might not be the next ‘Gadar 2’ for Sunny Deol, its slow and steady growth shows strong audience support.
‘Jaat’ controversy: Scene removed after backlash
‘Jaat’ faced backlash shortly after release due to a church scene that upset members of the Christian community. The filmmakers reacted quickly. As per Hindustan Times, they released a statement confirming that the controversial scene had been cut, “To Whomsoever It May Concern, There has been a backlash for a specific scene in the film. The scene has been removed from the film with immediate effect. Our intention was not to hurt any religious sentiments. We deeply regret it and have taken a quick action of deleting the scene from the film. We sincerely apologise to everyone whose beliefs have been hurt.”

‘Jaat 2’ is on the way
Fans of the film have something to look forward to—Sunny Deol has confirmed that a sequel, ‘Jaat 2’, is in the works. In a video shared online, he said, “You have given me so much love for my film Jaat. I promise Jaat 2 will be even better.”
