
In the WPL 2026 match against the Mumbai Indians (MI), Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Jemimah Rodrigues won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium in Kotambi.
Delhi Capitals have made one change to their playing XI, where Deeya Yadav is set to make her debut. She has come in place of Minnu Mani. On the other hand, the “Paltan” have made four major changes. Rahila Firdous and Vaishnavi Sharma are set to make their debuts for MI, whereas Poonam Khemnar and Shabnaim Ismail have replaced Nalla Reddy and Amelia Kerr.
After winning the toss, DC captain Rodrigues said that the ball may tend to skid on the surface and, expecting the dew later in the game, she is hopeful that the conditions will favour batswomen. The captain is also looking forward to playing through the line and said that the focus will be on keeping the ball straight and targeting the stumps.
Rodrigues also said that the team is aware of the importance of winning the match and will stick to the process and plans. She also heaped praise on debutant Yadav by saying that, despite being just 16 years of age, she has the ability to clear the boundary ropes.
Mumbai`s skipper Harmanpreet Kaur said that even she would have chosen to bowl first. She also revealed that the players sat together and conducted good conversations. Harmanpreet admitted that her side has not been playing their best cricket, but is also hopeful of her players bringing their `A-games` tonight.
Currently, MI is placed in the second position with four points and a net run rate (NRR) of +0.151. The fifth place is in the name of the Capitals, who have two points and a net run rate (NRR) of -0.856.
