Kajol and Twinkle’s reality show ‘Two Much’ has Sonakshi Sinha and Manish Malhotra as guests in its latest episode. During the chat, Kajol praised Manish for always ensuring his actresses feel confident and never uncomfortable about their bodies. She revealed, “Manish has never once told me, ‘Listen, you should lose some weight for the outfit.’ In fact, when I came up to him and I said, ‘You know I’ve put on weight, I think I’m looking very fat,’ if I have said that, he has turned around and he has told me, ‘Listen, you’re fine the way you are. Just calm down, you’re fine.’”Talking about how his fashion journey began, Manish recalled that his love for films shaped his career path. “I was born interested in movies. At the age of six, I would want to dance to every song, and I was interested in clothes. One thing, I have to give it to my mother; she encouraged my love of films. I wanted to change the way films look. Because, in the late 80s, movies had stopped looking good. All stars in the 70s were so stylish — from Rajesh Khanna’s kurtas to Amit Ji’s collars, Zeenat Aman, and all of them. But in the late 80s, I think that was missing. And I was determined that I would only design for movies, and I’ll always be a costume designer. So yeah, that’s how films happened,” he said.Manish also spoke about a funny incident during a film. “The one of the first outfits I made and they said, ‘It’s a funeral scene so make her a white salwar kameez but she should look hot.’” Manish admitted that he didn’t question the strange brief because he didn’t want anyone to think he “doesn’t know his job,” but later understood that what the makers wanted was a tight-fitting outfit. “I made fitted, almost tearing salwar kameez,” he recalled with a laugh. From being a designer, Manish has now turned producer. His film ‘Gustaakh Ishq’ starring Vijay Varma, Fatima Sana Shaikh is now set to release. Meanwhile, he has also produced ‘Bun Tikki’ which stars Zeenat Aman, Shabana Azmi, Abhay Deol.
