Karanvir Sharma gets candid about switching roles from intense to charming

Karanvir Sharma’s acting journey has been defined by variety and consistency. From television to films and digital projects, the actor has earned praise for smoothly moving between charming roles and emotionally intense characters. His performances reflect years of experience, sharp observation, and a deep understanding of human behaviour, making him one of the most dependable performers in his space.

Karanvir Sharma on playing contrasting characters

Talking about switching between contrasting characters, Karanvir says the ability comes naturally with time and exposure. He explained that many phases of his career required him to juggle different roles simultaneously. “I’ve often been shuffling between two characters at the same time. Whether it was Shaurya ( A professor ) from Shaurya aur Anokhi ki Kahaani and Rohit ( A criminal lawyer) in A Thursday, Hunter as Sajid the cop, or playing an intense and devoted son in Rabb Se Hai Dua, the switch becomes part of your process,” he shared.

According to the actor, the foundation of this transition lies in strong writing. Dialogues, character situations, and the emotional tone guide him into the role. “The real switch happens on set. Each project puts you in a different environment, and once I’m there, I’m fully involved in that character,” Karanvir said. He also stressed the importance of listening. “Acting is not just about delivering lines. It’s about listening to your director, the creative team, and your co-actor. Reacting honestly makes the performance real.”

Karanvir Sharma on doing intense scenes

When asked if any character stayed with him long after the shoot ended, Karanvir admitted that most roles do, at least for a while. He explained that stepping out of a character is gradual. “You can’t immediately disconnect after an intense scene. But the transition becomes smoother with experience, especially when you move to a new location or prepare for another role,” he said.

For long-format projects, Karanvir makes a conscious effort to unwind. Reading, watching films, and listening to music help him return to his routine even a short vacation. Still, he believes every character leaves a mark. “All the roles I’ve played become part of my journey. They stay with me until the next character comes along,” he added.

With every performance, Karanvir Sharma continues to evolve, carrying each role as a stepping stone in his growing body of work. The actor was recently seen in The Trial 2.
