Diljit Dosanjh, a Punjabi musician and actor, is due to appear as a special guest on Amitabh Bachchan`s iconic quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati 17. The creators have released a new ad for the upcoming episode, promising a mix of fun, nostalgia, and heartfelt moments.
The trailer opens with Amitabh Bachchan delivering one of his most remembered lines from the 1992 cult film Khuda Gawah. Big B expresses himself with his authoritative voice and timeless appeal: “Sar zameen-e-Hindustan, as-salaam alaykum… mera naam Badshah Khan hai… ishq mera mazhab, mohabbat mera imaan… mohabbat, jiske liye Majnu ne seharaon ki khaakh chaani… ussi mohabbat ke liye Kabul ka yeh pathan sar zameen-e-Hindustan se mohabbat ka khair maangne aaya hai!”
As soon as Amitabh finishes the dialogue, the audience erupts in applause, and Diljit is visibly moved, smiling in appreciation and bowing respectfully to the megastar.
Diljit shared an anecdote about the film and Amitabh Bachchan`s fandom overseas. He said, “Hum sir Abu Dhabi mein ek show kar rahe the… waha ek bohot bada mosque hai. Waha unhone hume allow kiya visit karne ke liye… toh maine unko invite kiya ki aap humare show pe aayiye.” (Sir, we were performing in Abu Dhabi, where there’s a big mosque. They allowed us to visit it, and I invited one of the men there to attend our show.)
Diljit says that he asked the man if he listened to Punjabi songs, and he said no—but he did know one Hindi movie and a song from it. To Diljit`s amazement, the song came from Khuda Gawah and was named “Tu Mujhe Kabool, Main Tujhe Kabool.”
Diljit then paid a tribute by singing the legendary song on the KBC stage. The soulful performance by Diljit impresses both Amitabh Bachchan and the audience. Big B, beaming with pride, joins the cheers as Diljit finishes the song.
Diljit will address his philanthropic work in response to the recent Punjab floods on the upcoming edition of KBC 17. He will also engage in playful banter with the host.
