KKR vs PBKS, IPL 2026: Where is the hype? Cameron Green flops yet again for KKR, fans left frustrated

Cameron Green endured another disappointing outing with the bat, and this time, social media did not hold back.

The Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder lasted just two deliveries in the IPL 2026 clash against the Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens on April 6. After getting off the mark with a boundary against Xavier Bartlett, Green edged the very next ball to the keeper, bringing yet another short-lived innings to an end.

The dismissal quickly triggered a wave of reactions online, with fans questioning both his form and his hefty price tag of Rs 25.20 crore. Several users labelled his performances as underwhelming, pointing out that despite glimpses of potential in the past, he has struggled to deliver consistently.

A section of fans also highlighted his current role in the side. With Green yet to be cleared to bowl by Cricket Australia, many argued that his value as a pure batter does not justify the price KKR paid for him. “Price does not match performance” was a common sentiment, while others suggested that the issue may be more about role clarity than ability.

Some fans even proposed changes to the playing XI. Names like Tim Seifert were floated as potential replacements, with suggestions to reshuffle the batting order and explore more aggressive combinations at the top.

The pressure is only mounting given KKR’s poor start to the season. They have already suffered defeats against the Mumbai Indians away and SunRisers Hyderabad at home, and will be eager to turn things around despite the absence of their trusted spin duo, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy.

Despite the criticism, there were also a few balanced takes. Some fans urged patience, noting that Green remains a player of high potential who could still come good if used in the right role.

Meanwhile, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane opted to bat first after winning the toss, with the team making two changes. Rovman Powell and Navdeep Saini were brought in to replace Narine and the injured Chakravarthy.

With results not going their way and scrutiny intensifying around key players, the spotlight on KKR and Green continues to grow.
