Actress Lakshmi Manchu opened up like never before and shared her views on love, marriage and even delved into the subject of womanhood and the conditioning that came with it. Speaking on Nikhil Vijayendra Simha’s podcast, the actor offered candid insights into her personal life and her long-distance marriage with husband Andy Srinivasan.
Lakshmi on marriage and motherhood
When asked about her love life, Lakshmi explained that her deepest affection today is reserved for her daughter. “I am madly, deeply, intensely in love,” she said. “Love as a mother has exceeded every love I’ve ever experienced. I don’t think anything will ever match it.” It was then that she said that she had only been “taught to worship men”. She added, “I’ve crossed that phase now, and when I look back, I’m very happy where I am.“Addressing whether she misses companionship, given that Andy lives in the US while she resides in Mumbai, Lakshmi said “I don’t miss anything, especially being with a man. I meet Andy all the time. We are a nuclear family unit. We co-parent Apple (their daughter, Vidya Nirvana), and that is the most important thing. Other than that, nothing else should matter right now.”
Lakshmi on her long distance relationship
While opening up about maintaining a long-distance marriage, she revealed that the family spends extended time together during Vidya’s school holidays.Lakshmi married Andy, an IT professional, in 2006 after several years of dating. Their daughter, Vidya Nirvana Manchu Anand, was born in 2014 via surrogacy. While Lakshmi has been based in Hyderabad and now Mumbai, Andy continues to live in the US.

On the work front, Lakshmi has had a busy 2024 with films like ‘Adiparvam’ and ‘Daksha’ and even a web series ‘Yakshini’. She also appeared as a contestant on the reality show ‘Traitors’ this year.
