
The Maharashtra cabinet passed a proposal to congratulate the World Cup-winning cricket team for their historic T20 World Cup win. A proposal was brought in the Vidhan Bhawan, where CM Fadnavis and other ministers praised the performance of the Indian cricket team and passed a cabinet proposal congratulating the Indian team.
CM Devendra Fadnavis was full of praise for the Indian team and their historic win in Ahmedabad. The `Men in Blue` defeated New Zealand by 96 runs to become the first team ever to win back-to-back T20 World Cup titles.
“We could see teamwork, discipline and confidence in our Indian team. Sanju Samson, who entered the team at the last moment, dominated the entire tournament. I congratulate the team for its victory,” Fadnavis said in the House.
Fadnavis further congratulated cricketer Ishan Kishan for his match-winning performance despite losing a close family member a day before the final.
“I congratulate Ishan Kishan, who lost a close relative in an accident just a day before the final match, but he did not lose his focus. I extend my special congratulations to him,” the chief minister said.
Later, CM Fadnavis congratulated the Mumbai players in the Indian team, starting with skipper Suryakumar Yadav. The CM also congratulated coach Gautam Gambhir for guiding the Indian team to victory.
“The captain of the team, Suryakumar Yadav, is from Mumbai. I congratulate him and coach Gautam Gambhir for this victory,” he added.
Speaker Rahul Narwekar said a congratulatory message will be communicated to the Indian cricket team on behalf of the House.
India became the first team to win back-to-back T20 World Cup titles
India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs to defeat their T20 World Cup title. Captain Suryakumar Yadav joined the likes of Kapil Dev, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma as the world cup winning captains for India.
After winning the T20 World Cup in 2024, the then Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, along with the other Mumbai players like Shivam Dube, Suryakumar Yadav and Yashasvi Jaiswal, were invited to the Maharashtra assembly for felicitation.
Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav addressed the assembly in Marathi and thanked them for their wishes. Captain Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube are the two players who represent Maharashtra in the current team.
