Maharashtra Assembly Election Result 2024 | Who won in Pune?


Pune, the cultural capital of Maharashtra, has recently shown a preference for BJP candidates, with Anil Shirole, Girish Bapat and Muralidhar Mohol – all from the Bharatiya Janata Party – elected in the last three Lok Sabha elections. But there are different battles in the district during the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, where there are 21 different battles in 21 assembly constituencies. Who won the elections in Pune and its surrounding areas? We will take a look.

In the Maharashtra battle, the Mahayuti alliance is coming out on top as the results are slowly being declared on Saturday (November 23, 2024), according to trends on the Election Commission of India website. The Mahayuti, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP, is facing off against the Maha Vikas Aghadi, which includes the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP).

Voting took place in a single phase on November 20 to elect members of the 288-seat Maharashtra Assembly. The contests were closely watched across the state, especially in areas where the Sena and NCP factions were pitted against each other. Voter turnout in the state was about 65%, the highest since 1995.

Pune recorded 61% voter turnout, which is higher than the 57% recorded during the 2019 assembly elections. Among constituencies in Pune district, Indapur recorded the highest turnout at 76.10%, while Hadapsar recorded the lowest turnout at 50.11%.

Winner: Sharad Sonawane, who contested as an independent, Margin: 6664

He defeated Satyasheel Sherkar of NCP (SP). There were 11 candidates in Junnar, including Atul Vallabh Benke of NCP and Devram Sakharam Lande of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA). There were 8 independent candidates in the fray along with Mr. Sonawane.

In the last assembly elections, Mr Benke had defeated Mr Sonawane, who was then part of the Shiv Sena. In 2014, Mr Sonawane, then an MNS candidate, had won the election fray.

Ambegaon

Winner: Dilip Dattatreya Walse Patil – NCP Margin: 1523

Devdutt Jaywantrao Nikam of NCP (SP) stood second. There were 11 candidates in Ambegaon, out of which Sunil Kondhaji Indore of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) stood third. Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi fielded a candidate here, as well as smaller parties like Hindustan Janseva Paksha and Bharatiya Secular Party also fielded candidates here.

Khed Alandi

Winner: Babaji Ramchandra Kale – Shiv Sena (UBT) Margin: 51,743

He defeated Dilip Dattatreya Mohite of NCP. There were 13 other candidates in the constituency, including Ravindra Rahul Randhawe of VBA and Aniket Muralidhar Gore of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

Shirur

Win: Dnyaneshwar alias Mauli Aaba Katke – NCP Margin: 74,550

Mr Katke defeated Ashok Raosaheb Pawar of NCP (SP). There were 11 candidates in Shirur, in which BSP and local parties like Sambhaji Brigade Party, Sainik Samaj Party and Maharashtra Swarajya Party had fielded their candidates.

Won: Rahul Subhash Rao Total- BJP Margin: 13889

Rameshappa Kisanrao Thorat of NCP (SP) stood second. The 14 candidates from Daund included those fielded by BSP, Sambhaji Brigade Party and Rashtriya Maratha Party.

Indapur

Winner: Dattatreya Vithoba Bharne – NCP Margin: 19410

In the NCP faction’s battle for Indapur, Dattatreya Bharne defeated his NCP (SP) rival Harshvardhan Shahjirao Patil. Mr. Patil, a former minister in the state government, had formed an alliance with BJP and NCP-SP before the assembly elections.

There were 24 candidates in Indapur, including MNS’s Amol Shivaji Devkate. BSP fielded one candidate, along with smaller parties like Swarajya Nirman Sena, Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi, Rashtriya Samaj Paksha and Bharatiya Jan Samrat Party.

Baramati

Winner: Ajit Anantrao Pawar – NCP Margin: 100899

This time in the battle of Baramati, Ajit Pawar has won by defeating his nephew NCP (SP) candidate Yugendra Pawar by a margin of one lakh. He has returned for his seventh term as MLA, and has reversed the NCP’s defeat in the Lok Sabha elections held earlier this year. Apart from this, 23 members were also in the fray, in which VBA and BSP had fielded one candidate each. Bharatiya Praja Surajya Paksha, Rashtriya Samaj Paksha, Sambhaji Brigade and Samata Party also fielded their members.

Purandar

Won: Vijaybapu Shivtare-Shiv Sena Margin: 24,188

It was a victory for Shiv Sena and Mahayuti in Purandar, where Vijay Shivtare defeated Sanjay Chandukaka Jagtap of Congress. NCP’s Sambhaji Sadashiv Anna Jhende stood third. There were 16 candidates in the fray in Purandar, including MNS’s Umesh Jagtap and BSP’s Suraj Bhosale along with candidates from VBA, Sambhaji Brigade, Rashtriya Samaj Paksha and Maharashtra Swarajya Paksha.

Winner: Shankar Hiraman Mandekar – NCP Margin: 19638

Sangram Anantrao Thopte of Congress stood second. He was the sitting MLA, and the son of previous six-time MLA Anantrao Thopte.

Of the total six candidates in the morning, two were independent, while one each was from Sainik Samaj Party and Dalit Shoshit Pichara Varg Adhikar Dal.

Maval

Winner: Sunil Shankarrao Shelke-NCP Margin: 108,565

Independent Anna alias Bapu Jaywantrao Bhegade stood second. There were six candidates in Maval, of which Bhim Sena’s Ravindra Nanabhau Wagchaure was one.

Chinchwad

Winner: Shankar Pandurang Jagtap-BJP Margin: 103865

Mr. Jagatao defeated Rahul Tanaji Kalate of NCP (SP). The 21 candidates from Chinchwad were members of BSP, Maharashtra Swarajya Paksha, Swarajya Shakti Sena, Swarajya Rashtra Nirman Sena and All India Forward Bloc.

Pimpri (SC)

Winner: Anna Dadu Bansode-NCP Margin: 36664

In this battle of NCP factions, NCP emerged victorious, Dr. Sulakshana Shilwant-Dhar of NCP (SP) stood second. 15 people were in the fray in Pimpri, a constituency reserved for Scheduled Castes. This also included Manoj Bhaskar Garbade of VBA, who stood third. BSP’s Sundar Mhasukant Kamble was also in the fray, as were members of Maharashtra Swarajya Paksha, Rashtriya Valmiki Sena Paksha and Vidhuthalai Chiruthigal Katchi.

Ajit Damodar Gavane of NCP (SP) is running at the second position. At the third position is Amjad Mehboob Khan of All India Majlis-e Inquilab-e Millat. There were a total of 11 candidates in the fray, including one candidate each from BSP and Swarajya Shakti Sena.

Vadgaon Sherry

Winner: Bapusaheb Tukaram Pathare- NCP (SP) Margin: 4710

In an NCP faction fight, the Sharad Pawar faction won, albeit by a small margin. Mr Pathare defeated NCP’s Sunil Vijay Tingre. Vivek Londhe of VBA stood third. The 16 candidates in the fray were members of BSP, Bahujan Samaj Party (Ambedkar), Hindu Samaj Party, Bharatiya Jawan Kisan Party, Vikas India Party, Rashtriya Samaj Party and Bharatiya Navjawan Sena (BSP).

Shivajinagar

Winner: Siddharth Anil Shirole- BJP Margin: 36,702

Congress’s Dutta Bahirat stood second, while independent Anand Surendra stood third. VBA’s Sirsange Paresh Shankar Sirsange and BSP’s Latif Akbar Shaikh were in the fray, along with candidates from Bharatiya Yuva Jan Ekta Party, Swarajya Rashtra Nirman Sena, Social Democratic Party of India, Bahujan Bharat Party and Janata Dal (Secular). Were in. Out of 13 candidates.

Kothrud

Leading: Chandrakant (Dada) Bachchu Patil- BJP Margin: 112041

Mr Patil defeated Chandrakant Balbhim Mokate of Shiv Sena (UBT). MNS lawyers stood third. Kishore Nana Shinde. Yogesh Rajapurkar of VBA and Engr of BSP. Mahesh Dashrath Mhaske was also among the 12 candidates from Kothrud.

Khadakwasla

Winner: Bhimrao Dhondiba Tapkir – BJP Margin: 52322

Mr Tapkir defeated Sachin Shivjajirao Dodke of NCP (SP). Other candidates contesting from this seat included MNS’s Mayuresh Ramesh Wanjale, VBA’s Sanjay Jairam Diwar and members of Sanay Chhatrapati regime, Rashtriya Swarajya Sena and Rashtriya Samaj Paksha. A total of 14 candidates were in the fray.

Parvati

Winner: Madhuri Misal- BJP Margin: 54660

After Ms. Misal, Ashwini Nitin Kadam of NCP (SP) stood second. Independent candidate Aba Bagul stood third. The 15 candidates in the fray included VBA’s Surekha Gaikwad and a member of the Sambhaji Brigade Party.

Hadapsar

Winner: Chetan Vitthal Tupe – NCP Margin: 7122

The NCP won against the NCP-SP in Hadapsar, with Mr Tupe winning by a narrow margin over Prashant Sudam Jagtap. There were a total of 19 candidates in the fray in Hadapsar, including MNS’s Babar Sainath Sambhaji, VBA’s Afroz Mulla and BSP’s Rajendra Rawalkar alias Raut. Apart from this, candidates of Social Democratic Party of India, All India Unity Party, Netaji Congress Sena, Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram), Bharatiya Lok Vikas Party, Rashtriya Samaj Paksha, Sambhaji Brigade, Hindustan Janata Party and Prahar Janshakti Party were also contesting the elections. .

Pune Cantonment (SC)

Won: Sunil Gyandev Kamble – BJP Margin: 10,320

In Pune Cantonment, which is a constituency reserved for Scheduled Castes, he secured another victory for the Mahayuti alliance by defeating Ramesh Anandrao Bagwe of Congress. The 20 candidates in the constituency included VBA’s Nilesh Suresh Alhat, and BSP’s Mahesh Jagtap, as well as members of the Bahujan Republican Socialist Party, Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram), Maharashtra Swarajya Paksha and Republican Sena.

Kasba Peth

Winner: Hemant Narayan Rasne – BJP Margin: 14423

BJP’s Hemant Rasne defeated Congress’s outgoing MLA Ravindra Dhangekar in Kasba Peth, located in the heart of old Pune city. Mr Dhangekar had won the by-election in Kasba Peth in 2023; He also contested the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year, but lost to BJP’s Muralidhar Mohol.

There were a total of 12 candidates in Kasba Peth, including MNS’s Ganesh Bhokare and one each from VBA, Sanay Chhatrapati regime, Maharashtra Swarajya Party, Rashtriya Samaj Paksha and Bahujan Samaj Party (Ambedkar).

How do these results compare with Lok Sabha 2024?

The assembly constituencies of Pune district are divided between several parliamentary constituencies – Maval, Pune, Baramati and Shirur. Two NCP SP candidates, one Shiv Sena candidate and one BJP candidate were elected to the Lok Sabha from these four constituencies in the general elections earlier this year.

The assembly constituencies that are part of the Pune Lok Sabha constituency are Vadgaon Sheri, Shivajinagar, Kothrud, Parvati, Pune Cantonment (SC) and Kasba Peth. During the Lok Sabha elections, BJP’s Muralidhar Mohol defeated Ravindra Dhangekar (Congress) by more than 1.2 lakh votes in this parliamentary constituency.

In a keenly watched battle in the Lok Sabha elections for Baramati, NCP (SP)’s Supriya Sule defeated Sunetra Ajitdada Pawar (Ajit Pawar’s wife) of the other NCP faction by a margin of 1.5 lakh votes. In another factional fight of NCP in Shirur, Dr. Amol Rajsingh Kolhe of NCP (SP) defeated Adhalrao Shivaji Dattatreya of NCP by a margin of 1.4 lakh votes.

Meanwhile, in Maval, it was Shiv Sena’s Shrirang Appa Chandu Barne who defeated Shiv Sena’s (UBT) Sanjog Bhiku Waghere Patil by over 96,000 votes.
