Vijay gets off vehicle to check on couple in Trichy
A large group of fans and TVK cadres were waiting for Vijay at the Trichy airport as he flew down from Chennai. The actor-politician held a roadshow and went to file his nomination while waving from the sunroof of a van, as a massive crowd followed him. Numerous videos of Vijay expertly catching a scarf thrown at him before his security could and greeting the crowd are circulating on social media.
Another video shows Vijay waving at fans before he suddenly stops his vehicle and gets down when he notices something. He can be seen surrounded by his security and police personnel as he checks on someone. Other videos show a couple falling off their bike amid the chaos of the roadshow. Even as Vijay’s security and police helped them lift the bike, the actor-politician can be seen getting off his vehicle. Despite the crowd, he approached them and inquired about their well-being before leaving.
Vijay to contest in Tamil Nadu elections
Vijay recently announced TVK candidates for all 234 constituencies ahead of the TN elections, scheduled for April 23. He also announced his decision to contest from Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East. After filing his nomination at Perambur on March 30, he filed his nomination at Trichy on Thursday.
The main electoral contest is expected to be between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA), which also includes Congress, DMDK, and the VCK, and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by AIADMK, with the BJP and Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) as allies, as per ANI.
Recently, Kamal Haasan announced that his Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) party is withdrawing from the race and supporting the DMK-led alliance instead. Filmmaker Sundar C was announced as Puthiya Neethi Katchi’s (PNK) candidate for the Madurai Central constituency. While Kamal said, “Why should I care?” when asked about Vijay, Sundar expressed fondness for Vijay. He also stated that his wife, actor and BJP member Khushbu Sundar, called him her thambi (younger brother), refusing to criticise the actor and his party.
