We all know about Asamese cricketer Riyan Parag who came in the spotlight in the IPL 2024. However, there is another person from Assam who plays a key role in conducting the matches of the prestigious tournament. Not everyone gets the chance to work in the desired field but this boy has made it possible. We are talking about Imran Hussain Majumdar, a resident of Silchar, who worked as a system operator in IPL 2024.

The 24-year-old boy holds a B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Silchar. His education qualification has helped him to get the job as the role requires both technical expertise and problem-solving skills.

In 2021, Imran got a job soon after completing his degree. He got a job in Larsen & Toubro through his college placement and was posted in Guwahati. He didn’t like his job as he was more interested in cricket and wanted to pursue a career in it. He decided to take a career break and strive for better opportunities.

In 2023, he secured a job at Hawk-Eye Innovations, a company known for sports officiating and broadcast enhancement technology. The company works closely with the BCCI to provide services like ball tracking, DRS system management, Player analysis etc. Imran got the chance to officiate in IPL 2023 for the first time which was a dream come true moment for him. Presently, he is working on an ongoing series between South Africa Women Vs India Women International series.

In the recently concluded IPL season, he worked as a cricket system operator when he managed various technicalities of the game like ball tracking, ball analysis, player analysis etc. His main job was to monitor each ball and track its bounce, speed, swing and other details and generate an accurate analysis. He mentioned that the full work needed to be done within around 6-10 seconds. He said, “The job is not that tough. Anyone who loves watching cricket has good problem-solving skills and technical knowledge can easily do this job.”

Talking about his experience, Imran Hussain Majumdar said, “Since my childhood, I used to watch cricket on Television. But when I got the chance to work in India’s most iconic stadiums like Eden Gardens, Wankede, etc it was a dream come true moment for me. I have also worked in the ICC World Cup 2024 where I got to travel with the Indian team. I have closely watched all the games of our team which was a very special moment for me.”
