Mixed day for CSK uncapped stars at Vijay Hazare Trophy: 7 wickets for Ramakrishna Ghosh, Aman Khan sets unwanted List-A record

It was a day of mixed fortunes for the Chennai Super Kings’ uncapped players as Ramakrishna Ghosh of Maharashtra and Aman Khan of Puducherry found themselves on opposite ends of the spectrum after the latest round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy fixtures.

Ramakrishna Ghosh, the 28-year-old all-rounder who represents Maharashtra, had a memorable outing as he picked up seven wickets for just 42 runs. He put up a solid performance, cleaning up the top four batters from Himachal Pradesh, and also cleaned up the three tail-enders to put up a dominating performance as the latter ended up being bowled out for 271.

However, Maharashtra ended up on the losing end by a margin of seven runs. Himachal Pradesh put up a solid display with the ball as they restricted Maharashtra to 264 runs. Ghosh’s performance might have warranted a better result, but it remains a positive sign for CSK, who are keeping an eye on their stars in the premier 50-over domestic competition.

AMAN KHAN’S UNWANTED RECORD

Meanwhile, the Puducherry captain, Aman Khan, endured a tough outing as he entered the record books for having conceded the most runs by a bowler in a List-A game. He conceded 123 runs in his 10 overs against Jharkhand, where the batters targeted him without mercy, leading to a difficult outing for the 29-year-old all-rounder.

Khan was roped in for Rs 40 lakh in the IPL 2026 auction. He will be expected to bounce back, considering his experience in the domestic circuit and in the IPL. He has previously had stints with the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022 and the Delhi Capitals in 2023.

Jharkhand ended up taking a comprehensive win by 133 runs, with Anukul Roy taking the stage with his all-around heroics. He went on to score a quickfire and unbeaten 98 in 53 balls and followed it up with two wickets for 58 runs in just 9.4 overs.

The day summed up to be one of contrasting luck for the Chennai Super Kings, but they will be looking to see more from the uncapped stars leading up to the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League.
