Moment huge fireball destroys Sydney waste facility

More than 200 firefighters were called to tackle a fire at North St Mary’s in western Sydney, Australia, after a waste facility caught fire late on Saturday evening.

A chemical tank was blown into the air by the resulting explosion, Fire and Rescue NSW report, adding that it caused chunks of “fist-sized concrete blocks” to rain down on first responders.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries to their hands while tackling the New South Wales blaze, but no other injuries had been reported.

It was not known what caused the fire, which was expected to burn throughout Sunday.
