Mumbai Traffic LIVE Updates: Mumbai is set to witness a surge in rainfall in the upcoming days as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a “yellow alert” for the city until Saturday. In view of the downpour, several areas in the city are likely to face water-logging causing disruption in traffic activities.

The traffic is also likely to be affected due to the ongoing flyover works at several locations, including Asangaon and Vashind, and potholes have formed due to rains.

In addition to this, the authorities recently informed that Mumbai’s century-old Sion Bridge, one of the prominent landmarks of the financial capital which is over 112 years old, will be demolished. The development came against the backdrop of recent bridge collapse incidents in Kerala’s Wayanad and Bihar following heavy rains.

The Mumbai Traffic Police has imposed certain traffic restrictions and diversions in view of the closure of the Sion Bridge for reconstruction. The Sion Road Over Bridge (ROB) will remain closed for traffic movement from August 1, 2024, until July 31, 2026, to facilitate dismantling and reconstruction work.
