Balen first gained national attention when he won the Kathmandu mayoral election in 2022 as an independent candidate. Billing himself as the “son of Madhesh”, he campaigned on issues such as fighting corruption, ending nepotism and improving governance – demands strongly supported by Nepal’s Gen Z voters. If he assumes office, Balen will become the youngest prime minister in Nepal’s parliamentary history and the country’s first Madhesi leader to hold the top post.

Nepal Election Result Live: According to the latest data, Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is also leading in Nepal’s proportional representation vote count by securing 625,525 votes so far.

Nepali Congress is in second place with 208,833 votes, followed by CPN-UML with 167,189 votes. Nepali Communist Party has received 82,545 votes, while Rashtriya Prajatantra Party has received 44,454 votes and Shram Shakti Party has received 21,992 votes so far.

Nepal Election Results Live: According to the Election Commission, several prominent leaders won in Nepal’s latest parliamentary elections.

1. RSP president Ravi Lamichhane won the Chitwan-2 seat with 54,402 votes, defeating Meena Kumari Kharel of Nepali Congress, who secured 14,564 votes.
2. Former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ of NCP won from Rukum Purba by securing 10,240 votes, while Leelamani Gautam of CPN-UML won with 3,462 votes.
3. Gyanendra Shahi of the RPP won the Jumla constituency in Karnali province, defeating the NCP’s Naresh Bhandari, and became the only candidate from the pro-Monarchy RPP to win the seat.

10 women candidates were also elected in the election, including nine from RSP and one from Nepali Congress.

Nepal election results live: CPN-UML leader KP Sharma Oli, who was also projected as his party’s prime ministerial candidate, congratulated Balen on his victory and expressed hope that his government will complete the full five-year term in Nepal.

“Balen Babu, congratulations on the victory. May you have a smooth and successful five-year tenure – best wishes!” Oli wrote in a social media post. He also shared a photo from 2022, which shows rapper-turned-politician Ballen presenting him a tabla after winning the Kathmandu mayor’s election as an independent.

Nepal has experienced frequent political changes, with 14 governments formed in the last 18 years.

Nepal Election Results Live: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated the people and government of Nepal for successfully conducting the elections while lauding the strong voter participation across the country.

“It is heartening to see my Nepali sisters and brothers exercising their democratic rights so vibrantly. This historic milestone is a proud moment in Nepal’s democratic journey,” Modi said in a post on Twitter.

He said that as a close friend and neighbour, India is committed to working closely with the people and incoming government of Nepal to strengthen cooperation and pursue the shared goals of peace, progress and prosperity.

Nepal Election Results Live: Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP)’s Rajiv Khatri, who won the Bhaktapur-2 seat, said his focus will be on addressing the demands raised by the young generation of Nepal.

Khatri said after his victory, “The main agenda is to address the demands of the Gen-Z movement – ​​good governance, legal justice, amending the Constitution to make it more acceptable.”

Nepal Election Results Live: The Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP), founded by Ravi Lamichhane, has made a strong lead in the ongoing elections, winning 77 of the 97 seats in 2022, according to the Election Commission (EC) data, the results of which were declared till 9:30 pm.
