In the Asia Cup 2025 match against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka came victorious by six wickets at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. With this, the Lankans registered their first victory in the ongoing continental tournament.
While chasing a target of 140 runs, Sri Lanka`s opening batsman, Pathum Nissanka, played a stunning knock of 50 runs. His knock came in 34 balls, including six boundaries and a maximum. Fellow opener, Kusal Mendis, was able to score just three runs in six balls.
Kusal Perera departed after scoring nine runs off nine balls, with the help of a boundary. On the other hand, Dasun Shanaka scored one run in three balls.
Later, Kamil Mishara played an unbeaten knock of 46 runs after facing 32 balls. His knock included four boundaries and two maximums. With him, skipper Charith Asalanka stayed unbeaten at the crease on the score of 10 runs in four balls, including a maximum.
Bangladesh`s Mahedi Hasan bagged two wickets, followed by Mustafizur Rahman and Tanzim Hasan Sakib with one wicket each to their names. Bowling four overs, Mahedi conceded 29 runs. Rahman and Sakib bowled three overs each and were smashed for 35 and 23 runs, respectively.
Shoriful Islam, Rishad Hossain, and Shamim Hossain went wicketless in the Asia Cup 2025 match against Sri Lanka.
Completing three overs, Shoriful leaked 26 runs. Rishad bowled one over and conceded 18 runs, whereas Shamim`s 0.4 over saw him give away four runs.
Earlier, opening the innings for the “Bengal Tigers”, Tanzid Hasan failed to score and departed for a six-ball duck. Fellow opening batsman, Parvez Hossain Emon, too, followed his footsteps and returned to the pavilion on a duck after facing four balls.
Despite the side witnessing their opening duo return early to the pavilion, skipper and wicket-keeper Litton Das played a knock of 28 runs off 26 deliveries, which was laced with four boundaries.
Towhid Hridoy attempted to shoulder his skipper but was run out by Kamil Mishara. Facing nine balls, he scored just eight runs while Mahedi Hasan registered nine runs in seven balls, including a boundary.
Later, Ali and Hossain stayed unbeaten at the crease. Facing 34 balls, Ali scored an unbeaten 41 runs, including two boundaries. On the other hand, Hossain played a fighting knock of 42 runs off 34 deliveries, which was laced with three boundaries and a maximum.
