Parliament Ruckus Highlights: The penultimate day of the Parliament session was off to a stormy start on Thursday as both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 2 pm today due to Opposition ruckus over Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on BR Ambedkar.
Soon after both Houses resumed, they were adjourned till tomorrow amid Opposition sloganeering.
The Parliament Session is coming to a conclusion tomorrow, however, the last days have been hit by a massive political storm after Amit Shah, during his address in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday said, “Abhi ek fashion ho gaya hai – Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar. Itna naam agar bhagwan ka lete to saat janmon tak swarg mil jata (It has become a fashion to say Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar’. If they had taken God’s name so many times, they would have got a place in heaven).”
In a press conference on Wednesday, Shah alleged that Congress leaders are twisting facts and distorting his comments on Ambedkar in Rajya Sabha. He said Congress launched the malicious campaign after the discussion on the Constitution “established” the opposition party as being “anti-Ambedkar” and “anti-reservation”.

“The incident that happened in Parliament House today is very unfortunate. There is no place for such incidents in a healthy democracy. No amount of condemnation is enough for this. I went to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital to enquire about the well-being of injured BJP MPs Shri Pratap Sarangi and Shri Mukesh Rajput.
