In the semi-final of the ODI Women`s World Cup 2025 match against Team India, Australia skipper Alyssa Healy has won the toss and elected to bat first at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai.
The hosts have made one huge change as Shafali Verma comes in as the replacement of Pratika Rawal, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. On the other hand, the Aussies have made one change as Georgia Wareham makes way for Sophie Molineux for the semi-final of the ODI Women`s World Cup 2025 against the “Women in Blue”.
After winning the toss, Australian skipper Healy said that the team which plays well will get the result in their favour.
“We`re gonna have a bat. Great conditions here and an opportunity for us to put runs on the board. I`m grateful for the opportunity to get that 10-day break for rehab. It`s a semi-final and it`s basically whoever plays better will get the result. Just one other change Sophie Molineux comes in for (Georgia) Wareham,” said the Australian skipper.
The hosts` skipper said that even they would have opted to bat first considering the pitch conditions. She also said that whenever India plays against Australia, the only thing discussed is about adapting the “fearless mindset”.
“We were looking to bat first, if we get early breakthrough that would be great for us. We know this pitch, we had so many camps here and also played our last 2 games here. Whenever we play Australia, we talk about going with a fearless mindset,” said Harmanpreet.
“Unfortunately, Pratika (Rawal) is not there because of her injury. Shafali (Verma) comes in for her. Richa (Ghosh) and Kranti (Gaud) are back for Uma (Chetry) and Harleen (Deol),” she added.
