ODI Women`s World Cup 2025: South Africa win toss and opt to bowl first in final

In the final match of ODI Women`s World Cup 2025 against Team India, South Africa skipper Laura Wolvaardt has won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.

The ODI Women`s World Cup 2025 final was initially supposed to begin at 3 pm, with the toss set to take place at 2.30 pm. However, it was delayed due to persistent rain.

No overs will be reduced, and cricket fans across the globe will get a chance to witness a 50-over game per side. The world of cricket will witness the crowning of a brand new world champion in women`s ODI cricket.

India, playing its third ODI WC final, will be highly motivated to ease the pain of the 2005 and 2017 final losses and secure their first-ever world title in women`s cricket.

During the match, Jemimah Rodrigues will be the top player to watch out for. The home crowd will expect her to replicate the performance from the semi-final, which India played against Australia.

Rodrigues had played a match-winning knock of an unbeaten 127 runs, which also included 14 boundaries, against the tournament favourites.

On the other hand, South Africa has also come a long way in the tournament and is just one step away from scripting history.

The battle promises to be full of excitement and unexpected things. Currently, South African skipper Wolvaardt is the top run-scorer in the tournament. Having played eight matches so far, she has scored 470 runs with an average of 67.14.

Sitting below her is India`s premier batswoman, Smriti Mandhana, who has garnered 389 runs in eight games.

Also, star all-rounder Deepti Sharma is sharing the top spot for the most wickets in the tournament. Deepti has 17 wickets alongside Australia`s Annabel Sutherland.
