Veteran batter Ahmed Shehzad lashed out after Pakistan slumped to a seven-wicket defeat against South Africa in the second T20I on Friday, December 13 at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. With the loss, Pakistan also conceded the series to the Proteas. Pakistan also lost five T20Is in a row. Last month, Mohammad Rizwan and Co. lost 0-3 to Australia.
South Africa vs Pakistan, 2nd T20 Updates
Shehzad slammed the Pakistan team management, saying that it hasn’t addressed the issues that have persisted for a long time. In the second T20I, Pakistan racked up a massive score of 206 for five on the back of Saim Ayub’s stupendous 98-run knock.
But then Reeza Hendricks’ match-winning century guided South Africa past the finish line. Hendricks scored 117 runs off 63 balls with seven fours and 10 sixes as the Proteas chased down the target with three deliveries left in their innings.
“To be honest, it was a good game to watch as a spectator… but it felt like South Africa A and Pakistan A side were playing against each other with some players has the ability to fit in senior side from both the countries… If you know you know,” Shehzad wrote.
“Just a reminder, 7 main players are absent from this South African side and we played with our full strength and we lost the series once again just like we lost against Australian kids in T20s few days ago. Pakistan cricket is dying everyday and everyone is sleeping from top to bottom. Shame,” Shehzad added.
Pakistan will be looking to avoid a series whitewash when they face South Africa in the third T20I on Saturday, December 14 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
After the T20I series, the two teams will lock horns in the three-match ODI series, starting December 17 at Boland Park in Paarl.
