Pakistan secured a 32-run victory over the USA in their Group A T20 World Cup 2026 clash in Colombo, moving to the top of the points table. Pakistan posted a competitive total of 190/9 in their allotted 20 overs, with Sahibzada Farhan leading the charge with a blistering 73 off 41 balls.
He was well-supported by Babar Azam, who anchored the innings with a steady 46 off 28. Farhan’s aggressive approach included several boundaries and a six, while Babar rotated the strike efficiently, keeping the scoreboard ticking. The duo’s partnership laid the foundation for Pakistan’s total.
USA’s bowlers, however, staged a late fightback, with Shadley van Schalkwyk being the standout performer, picking up four wickets in a brilliant spell. His key breakthroughs, including the dismissal of Farhan, brought Pakistan’s scoring to a halt, with Pakistan losing their fourth wicket at 177/5.
Harmeet Singh also contributed with a timely wicket, dismissing Shadab Khan for 11. Despite the wickets falling, Pakistan accelerated in the final overs, with Shadab Khan hitting a six before being dismissed, and Mohammad Nawaz adding quick runs.
In their chase of 191, USA got off to a solid start, reaching 50/1 after 6 overs. Shayan Jahangir and Andries Gous were in good touch, but Jahangir’s departure for 49 shifted the momentum. Shubham Ranjane kept fighting with a knock of 45 but wickets continued to fall. USA struggled in the middle overs, with Usman Tariq and Shadab Khan picking up key wickets. Despite some late resistance, USA finished their innings at 152/6, falling short by 32 runs.
Pakistan’s all-round performance led them to a crucial victory as they top the Group A points table.
