French police closed traffic to and from Paris Gare du Nord train station on Friday after an unexploded World War II bomb was found on tracks leading to the terminal, train companies reported.

The bomb was found during overnight works on the tracks, train line RER B posted on X. Media said the discovery was made in the area of Saint-Denis, a suburb of Paris.

The Eurostar and all other trains were halted as police worked to disable the device. Eurostar’s website shows three trains scheduled to depart on Friday morning were cancelled.

Traffic was postponed until at least 10:00 local time (09:00 GMT), RER B posted in its latest update.

Eurostar said on its update that “due to an object on the tracks near Paris Gare du Nord, we are expecting disruption to our services this morning”.

Passengers could exchange their ticket for free to travel at another date or time in the same class, subject to availability, the train company said.
