Bengali actor Prosenjit Chatterjee, who is renowned for his exemplary work in the field of cinema, was selected to be conferred with the Padma Shri on Sunday, as the Ministry of Home Affairs released the list of Padma Awards winners. His name made its place in the 113 selected for the highest civilian honour. Reflecting on his big win, the actor, in a recent interview, very candidly said that he dedicates his Padma Shri award to his late mother, without whose sacrifices, he would not been able to make a mark.

The 63-year-old actor, with a career spanning over 4 decades, gave a special mention to his late mother, as he dedicated his Padma Shri to her. While speaking to PTI, Prosenjit Chatterjee said, “I would first like to dedicate this honour to my mother, who sacrificed so much to raise us and guided me on a journey that has spanned over four decades.”As he continued, the actor expressed his gratitude towards his family as well. I also share this recognition with my family, especially my son Mishuk. Ultimately, everything I have achieved is because of my countless viewers,” Chatterjee noted.Last but not least, Prosenjit shared that he called his father, iconic star Biswajit Chatterjee, to share the news as soon as he received it. The elated father and the veteran star on his son’s victory replied, ‘So you have got it. I am so proud of you.”

Prosenjit’s fondness for the performing arts can be traced back to the 1960s, when he first appeared as a child actor in the movie ‘Chhotto Jigyasha.’ From there, he never looked back and paced forward to make his place as the leading hero in the film industry. His movies like ‘Chokher Bali,’ ‘Dosar,’ ‘Autograph,’ and more won the National Film Award.
