Rahim Ali’s late strike helps India hold Singapore 1-1

India capitalised on a defensive blunder from Singapore at the fag end of play to escape with a 1-1 draw  in their third AFC Asian Cup qualification match here on Thursday.

Ikhsan Fandi put Singapore ahead by scoring in the first minute of first-half stoppage time, but Rahim Ali equalised in the 90th minute after Singapore’s Jordan Emaviwe’s errant back pass to the goalkeeper was pounced upon by the Blue Tigers.

Khalid Jamil’s team was reduced to 10 men when defender Sandesh Jhingan was sent off after receiving his second yellow card in the 47th minute. India now have two points from three matches.
