The year 2025’s biggest hit, Dhurandhar, brought with it a wave of nostalgia as it reused some iconic tracks. Among them was the song Rambha Ho, which was strategically placed during a fight sequence featuring Ranveer Singh. The song quickly became a favourite among Instagram users as well.

Meanwhile, actress Kalpana Iyer on whom the song was originally picturised also went viral after she danced to the new version of the track. She performed to the song at a wedding, and the video soon caught the attention of netizens. Amid this newfound fame among the younger generation, Kalpana Iyer has opened up about leaving Bollywood and being available for work at the age of 70.

While speaking to SCREEN, Kalpana Iyer addressed her viral dance moment. “The only difference is this wedding, where my dancing to Rambha Ho went viral. It gave me a new lease of life. I went on stage with no expectations. I believe that what is yours will come to you, however late. Six months away from 70, I couldn’t have asked for a better opening. Now all I wish is that the world manifests my career for me.”

Kalpana on returning to Bollywood

Iyer had moved to Dubai years ago, leaving Bollywood behind. However, she is open to returning to the film industry if opportunities arise. “Frankly speaking, if ‘Rambha Ho’ opens new doors, sure I’ll be back, whether I have to dance or act,” she said.

“At 70, I am not going to decide what I want to do. Even then, I didn’t. I am honest with what I do. I want the work,” Kalpana added.

She continued, “I am looking for work, and genuinely, I am happy with whatever course my life has taken so far. I have kept my doors open. My phone is available. People know me, and if they think I deserve something, it’ll come to me. It’s my belief, and I am going to do everything, roles, dance, guest appearances, invitations to shows, anything and everything. I want to work. It’s as simple as that. I would like my 70th birthday to be something I remember for my work now.”

The actress, who moved to Dubai after work slowed down in Bollywood, spoke about that phase in detail. “Neither did I quit working, nor did I turn around and leave my country. Nothing of the sort. I needed to be busy. I needed work. After Hum Saath Saath Hain, I found that work was not coming the way it used to, and the roles that came were not up to the mark. I have never said I want a full-length role. I have never said I want the main dance. I have never said that I won’t stand on the sidelines. All I said was that it has to come to me with dignity. After Hum Saath Saath Hain, things just came to a standstill,” Kalpana Iyer said.
