Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayan to Go on Floors in January

Post the success of Animal, Ranbir Kapoor boasts one of the most enviable lineups among his contemporaries, with films like Ramayan, Love and War, Animal Park, and Dhoom 4. Recently, it was reported that Ranbir has begun shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War, co-starring Alia Bhatt. His look from the film, featuring a moustache, was revealed and suggests he will be playing a character with shades of grey.

ETimes has exclusively learned that the shooting for his magnum opus Ramayan, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and also starring Sai Pallavi, will resume in January. The epic, which will be released in two parts, has already completed the shooting of its first part a few months ago with Arun Govil and Lara Dutta.
Namit Malhotra, the film’s producer, recently announced the release dates for both parts on social media. He wrote, “More than a decade ago, I embarked on a noble quest to bring this epic that has ruled billions of hearts for over 5000 years to the big screen. Today, I am thrilled to see it taking shape beautifully as our teams work tirelessly with one purpose: to present the most authentic, sacred, and visually stunning adaptation of our history, our truth, and our culture – our Ramayana – for people across the world. The film’s production is moving at a breathtaking pace, as both parts will feature heavy VFX. The team is ensuring they have ample time to create state-of-the-art effects capable of competing with international films, given the makers’ global vision for the project.
Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Ram while Sai Pallavi plays Goddess Sita and Sunny Deol plays Lord Hanuman and Yash who is also the producer of the film will be playing Raavan.
