And it’s finally here- Ranbir Kapoor’s first look as Lord Rama from Ramayana. The ambitious cinematic adaptation of India’s epic has been creating headlines for years now, and a lot is expected especially from the VFX, which has been done by the film’s producer, Namit Malhotra’s own company, DNEG.

The teaser of Ramayana dropped on Thursday, on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, and revealed Ranbir‘s look. The last scene also teases Yash (the film’s co producer as well) as Raavana.
Namit, in a collab post with the director Nitesh Tiwari and Yash, wrote on Instagram, “Rama is the greatest of all time because he lived a life where the choices he made were always in the benefit of the greater good, duty over desire, and sacrifice over self. His legacy continues to enhance and empower humanity over time and bring the belief in the goodness of the human spirit to resolve all conflict and bring peace to the world. Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana Directed by Nitesh Tiwari In cinemas worldwide Ramayana Part 1 Diwali 2026.”
This has also dispelled all rumors surrounding the release date of the film.
Co-starring Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Laxman and Yash as Raavana, Ramayana has been made on a budget of ₹4,000 crores according to Namit.
As expected, the internet had a lot to say about the teaser. While a section loved the presentation and Yash’s presence, some felt the VFX needs improvement. A fan of Yash wrote on Instagram “That Majesty Walk of Yash BOSS in the end”, while another commented, “This masterpiece, I am waiting Ravana’s entry”
As for the VFX, one comment read, “Is it only me who feels some frames are giving GAMING GRAPHICS?” Fans of Ranbir were quick to defend, too. “The Underline: OUR TRUTH OUR HISTORY- these four words bring my tears out… Prayers, blessings and good wishes to the makers.. Jai Shri Ram,” read another comment.
