This comes at a time when ‘Dhurandhar’, is just days away from its release on December 5. The action film, which won praise for its bloody, brutal and gory trailer, is already drawing attention online with fans intrigued about the film’s story. Early this week, the film found itself in the centre of a growing controversy. According to a report by Bar and Bench, the parents of late Major Mohit Sharma, AC(P), SM, a decorated Indian Army officer posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra and Sena Medal, approached the Delhi High Court seeking a stay on the film’s release over speculation linking Ranveer’s role to Major Sharma. Responding to the Sharma family, Dhar issued a formal clarification, “Hi, sir – Our film Dhurandhar is not based on the life of braveheart Major Mohit Sharma AC(P) SM. This is an official clarification. I assure you, if we do make a biopic on Mohit Sir in the future, we will do it with full consent and in complete consultation with the family, and in a way that truly honours his sacrifice for the nation and the legacy it has left for all of us.
