Lucknow Super Giants head coach Justin Langer expects Rishabh Pant to have an excellent outing in the Indian Premier League 2026. Speaking ahead of the season, Langer said Pant has been in good touch in the nets and is expected to fire on all cylinders.
The Lucknow captain, the most expensive signing in the history of the tournament, endured a difficult run of form in the 2025 edition. Pant managed just 269 runs across the season, including a hundred in the final game.
“Rishabh Pant will be ready to go. He is training at the moment. We’ve got a camp going on. He is firing. Champions do not stay out for long. His last game in IPL 2025 showed how brilliant he can be. So, that’s our expectation from him this year,” Justin Langer told the media on the sidelines of the LSG camp.
Pant has begun his preparations for the IPL during the T20 World Cup 2026, a tournament he was not part of. The wicketkeeper-batter has turned to Yuvraj Singh in a bid to revive his T20 career.
Yuvraj, who has worked with players like Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh, was recently seen training with Pant at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai.
The Lucknow Super Giants endured a poor campaign last season. The team finished in the 7th spot despite their openers amassing a lot of runs last season. LSG would hope to get back on track under the leadership of Pant. The Langer-coached team will hope that the unit fires in unison and that the squad remains injury free this season.
Lucknow play their opening game on the season on April 1, against Delhi Capitals at the Ekana Stadium.
