Tilak Varma hit his 2nd consecutive T20I hundred in the 4th T20I between India and South Africa at the Wandrers Stadium in Johannesburg on November 11, Friday. Tilak has been in absolutely sensational form as he emulated Sanju Samson to become only the 2nd Indian and 5th overall batter to hit back-to-back centuries in the shortest format of the game. Tilak ensured to make the given opportunity count as he got the chance to bat above the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav in the ongoing series. In the 3rd match at Centurion, Tilak became the youngest batter to hit a T20I century at the age of 22.
Tilak reached the three-figure mark in 41 balls, making him the second-fastest centurion for India in T20Is. Rohit Sharma stands at the top of the list with a 35-ball hundred vs Sri Lanka in 2019. Tilak became the 2nd Indian to hit 2 hundreds in a T20I bilateral series. A few moments before Tilak’s hundred, Sanju Samson became the 1st Indian to do so with two hundreds to his name in the 4-match series. The explosive pair of Samson and Tilak unleashed carnage as they continued to tick off the records en route to their respective hundreds.
