Actor Rajpal Yadav dominated headlines in the first quarter of 2026 due to his cheque-bounce case and subsequent arrest. He surrendered at Tihar Jail after failing to repay his debt on time. Before going to prison, the seasoned actor stated that he did not have the money to clear his dues. This prompted several celebrities to extend financial help, and he was eventually granted bail.
Recently, at an awards show, Rajpal Yadav was seen addressing the rising dollar rate and the falling rupee. However, he was mocked by the host in response. The video soon went viral, and now superstar Salman Khan has spoken out in support of Yadav.
Salman Khan supports Rajpal Yadav
On Tuesday, Salman Khan took to social media and shared a picture of Rajpal Yadav speaking at the awards show. Along with the image, he wrote, “Rajpal bhai aap 30 yrs se kaam kar rahe ho aur hum sabne aapko repeat kiya hai baar baar kyunki aap apna kaam jante ho aur ek value laate ho , kaam toh aapko bohot milega aur issi dollar rate pe milega aur milte rahega . Hakikat yeh hai. (Rajpal bhai, you have been working for 30 years, and all of us have cast you again and again because you know your craft and bring value. You will continue to get plenty of work, and at this same dollar rate too. That’s the reality.)”
He further wrote, “Aur yeh yaad rakhna ke kabhi kabhi flow mai kuch nikal aata hai ,dena hi hai toh dimag mai rakho dil se kaam karo , dollar upar ho ya neeche kya farak padta hai dena toh India mai hi hai. (And remember, sometimes things are said in the heat of the moment. If you have to give, keep it in mind and work with your heart. Whether the dollar goes up or down, what difference does it make? In the end, the money has to be spent in India.)”

Rajpal Yadav on his journey
Recently, in an interaction with Farah Khan, Rajpal spoke about his body of work. Farah asked, “Do you still have work?” Rajpal replied promptly, “I started my job with you in the year 1999.” The filmmaker followed up, “Was that your first film?” Rajpal said, “No, it was Shool, but from Shool I went to Mast. It was RGV’s film.”
Farah then asked, “So you are Ramu’s discovery?” Rajpal agreed.
He went on to say, “In the very first year (2000), the industry bestowed me with so much love and fame that I have finished doing at least 200 films”.
Reacting to the numbers, Farah Khan remarked, “I think you must have done at least 100 films with just Priyadarshan sir.” Rajpal, who has worked in films like Bhagam Bhag, Malamaal Weekly and Bhool Bhulaiyaa, laughed and said, “I have actually done at least 50 films each with Ram Gopal Varma, Priyadarshan and David Dhawan.”
Farah quipped, “Even Salman [Khan] can’t do without you.” Rajpal agreed and said, “Yes, Salman bhai and Akshay bhai both can’t do. I have also done at least four films with Shah Rukh Khan.”
