Samara Tijori is back on the screens with the latest release, Daldal, co-starring Bhumi Satish Pednekkar. The psychological crime thriller sees Samara as Anita, a journalist who adds to the plot’s gripping tension. And recently, Samara revealed how she understood her character and got into the skin of it without any reference point.
Samara Tijori on getting into the skin of her character
Samara revealed she studied psychology and met a psychologist to be able to understand her character’s emotions layer by layer.
“I really read a lot, and I’m not an avid reader, but for this particular character, I researched a lot! I myself studied psychology, so when I got the chance to audition for this part, I knew it in my heart that I really want to get this. More than anything, to understand better, I tried to understand Anita on a deeper level. I had to create her out of thin air because there was no reference point as such. I also met a psychologist, and breaking her emotions down beat by beat helped me go deeper and deeper into discovering the character,” she shared.
However challenging the process might have been, Samara expresses sheer joy at being able to pull it off. “For me, this character definitely has a strong backstory. I had to dive deep within myself to portray her emotions honestly on screen. In many ways, this process surprised me – I didn’t know I had this much within me,” she says.
Daldal has begun streaming on Amazon Prime Video, and positive reviews clearly indicate that Samara has hit the ball out of the park! First Bob Biswas, Masoom, and now Daldal, Samara is walking the path of experimentation and content-driven cinema, one that’s exciting audiences to get back to binging.
