Some stories begin in darkness – shaped by silence, tradition, and burdened by wounds passed down through generations like an inheritance. Yet, every darkness waits for its dawn. Staying true to its legacy of socially rooted storytelling, COLORS presents ‘Seher Hone Ko Hai’, a stirring saga of a mother who was forced into marriage at a very young age and now refuses to let history repeat itself. Determined to give her daughter Seher the freedom she never had, she stands by her dreams of getting an education and building a career. The battle to give her that opportunity is where this story begins.
In the poetic lanes of Lucknow, Kausar fights to make Seher a doctor and set her free. But standing in her way is Parvez, Seher’s orthodox father, who plans to marry her off to Osmaan’s grandson Mahid, the heir to an influential family, even as Mahid seeks treatment from Dr Farid, a man of science. As Kausar races to save Seher from being married off to Mahid, the young girl stands at a perilous crossroads—will she rise into her own dawn, or be pulled back into the darkness her mother lives in?
Parth Samthaan details about his character
Parth Samthaan, on returning to television and essaying the role of Mahid, says, ”Mahid is a beautifully conflicted soul, torn between the expectations of a revered family and the unresolved wounds of his childhood. His encounter with Seher becomes the turning point in his life, pushing him to confront the man he truly is, rather than the one he was shaped to be. This is definitely not your boy-next-door character — in fact, it’s the most challenging role I’ve ever done so far. Mahid is wounded, scared, and emotionally unstable, yet he lives by a strong sense of justice, helping whoever is in need and punishing the culprit in his own way. He believes Allah has sent him into this world with a purpose of protecting the vulnerable and ensuring that justice is served. Returning to television with a character, this layered feels incredibly special, and I look forward to the audience embracing him with the same love and support they’ve always shown me.”
Mahhi Vij returns to TV with Seher Hone Ko Hai
Mahhi Vij, playing the role of Kausar in Seher Hone Ko Hai, shares, “Coming back to fiction with Kausar feels like coming home, both as an actor and as a mother. Kausar’s journey moved me the moment I heard it. I’ve worn many hats over the years: a performer, a reality-show winner, a woman who has learned to turn setbacks into strength—and this role asks for every one of those truths. What I love most is the quiet, unstoppable courage with which Kausar fights to give her daughter the life she never had. As a mother, that sentiment is so primal to me: wanting better, wanting brighter, wanting freedom for your child even if you never had it yourself. This role is my tribute to mothers everywhere and their infinite capacity to love, to fight, and to reshape the futures of the children they raise.”
