Smriti Mandhana has climbed the T20I and ODI batting rankings. The Indian batter now holds the second position in both formats. This follows her impressive performances against the West Indies.
The latest ICC rankings update, released Tuesday, reveals Mandhana’s ODI rating of 739. Only South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt, with a rating of 773, sits above her. In T20Is, Mandhana’s rating of 753 is just shy of Beth Mooney’s 757.
The 28-year-old Mandhana’s rise to the No. 2 spot was fueled by her scores of 62 off 41 balls and 77 off 47 balls in the two recent T20Is. These innings mark her third consecutive half-century against Hayley Matthews’ West Indies team.
Mandhana also scored 91 runs off 102 balls in the first ODI in Vadodara. This extends her streak of 50-plus scores in international cricket to five consecutive innings.
West Indies captain Hayley Matthews also saw a rise in the rankings. Her scores of 85 not out off 47 balls and 22 off 17 balls in the two T20Is propelled her two spots up to joint-third. She now shares the position with Australia’s Tahlia McGrath, both with a rating of 748.
Indian bowlers Radha Yadav and Shreyanka Patil also advanced in the T20I bowling rankings. Yadav climbed three places to 16th, while Patil moved up one spot to 20th.
Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian captain, gained three positions in the ODI rankings. Her score of 34 in Vadodara moved her to joint-tenth place with a rating of 631. She shares this spot with England’s Tammy Beaumont.
Australian opener Alyssa Healy also improved her ODI ranking. Scores of 39 and 34 against New Zealand lifted her two spots to eighth place, with a rating of 640.
Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland achieved career-best rankings in batting, bowling, and all-rounder categories. This followed her Player of the Match performances in the second and third ODIs against New Zealand.
Sutherland’s scores of 105 not out and 42 in the two matches elevated her 11 places to 18th in the batting rankings. Her bowling figures of three for 39 in the third ODI raised her three places to 17th in the bowling rankings. She also climbed to seventh from ninth in the all-rounders’ list after being named Player of the Series.
Indian bowler Renuka Singh Thakur entered the top 20 of the ODI bowling rankings for the first time. Her impressive five-wicket haul for 29 runs against the West Indies contributed to this achievement.
Australian pacer Kim Garth climbed four places to 13th in the ODI bowling rankings. She took three wickets in two matches against New Zealand.
New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr and Australia’s Alana King also saw improvements in their ODI bowling rankings. Kerr moved up one place to 11th, while King climbed two spots to 12th. Both are leg-spinners.
