He is not new to the Ektaa R Kapoor camp, but Sohil Singh shares that he finds his new stint in the iconic show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 — a reboot of the beloved family drama that defined an era of Indian television — a golden opportunity. Playing the character of Parth, he says the offer was nothing short of a dream come true. “It is an honour and an amazing experience. I’ve learned so much and also got to express myself freely along the way,” he says.
“Growing up, I used to watch it with my family, and it was actually my Nani’s favourite show,” recalls Singh. “The show didn’t just reach people’s homes, it made a special place in their hearts. It’s the perfect mix of drama, emotions, comedy and banter — just like every family has. That’s why the show was and still is legendary.”
Having previously worked with Balaji Telefilms in Kundali Bhagya and Parineeti, Singh says joining the cast of Kyunki… 2 felt like destiny. “I think the makers saw Parth in me and reached out. It was an instant yes for me after hearing the character brief because having such a good role in such a legendary show feels like Virat Kohli offering front row seats at a game,” he laughs.
Though television is known for its long hours and intense schedules, Singh insists he enjoys the grind. “TV is tough but also a lot of fun. When you have such a supportive cast and crew, you actually want to be on set and keep creating magic. Time just flies.”
His first day on Kyunki… 2 was one for the books — he filmed alongside veterans Smriti Irani, Sakshi Tanwar, Amar Upadhyay, Hiten Tejwani, Kiran Karmarkar and Shakti Anand. “I definitely felt the pressure,” he admits, “but they were so warm and sweet that they instantly broke the ice.”
Looking ahead, Singh hopes to transition into films and OTT. “I’ve done reality and TV, and I feel it’s time for me to move to the next chapter. I’m hoping for the best.”
