Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain is one of the most popular shows on Indian television and has been on air for over a decade. The show’s lead female character, Angoori Bhabhi, was originally played by Shilpa Shinde in 2015. She exited the show within a year and was replaced by Shubhangi Atre, who went on to portray the character for nearly a decade.
What Shilpa Shinde said about Shubhangi Atre
Recently, Atre stepped down from the show, following which Shilpa Shinde returned to reprise the role. After her comeback, Shinde, in an interview with Telly Chakkar, remarked that Atre lacked comic timing.
“Dekhiye, as an actor, maine us waqt bhi bola tha jab controversy chal rahi thi. Very frankly, usne kaam achha kiya hai. Achhi actress hai, but comedy sabke bas ki baat nahi hoti. Uske baad kisiko copy karna bohot mushkil hota hai, bohot pressure hota hai,” Shinde said. She further added, “Chahe main kitni bhi achhi acting kar loon, kisi actress ko copy karna ho toh wo copy ho jaati hai.”
Sourabh Raaj Jain slams Shilpa Shinde
Actor Sourabh Raaj Jain reacted strongly to Shinde’s remarks and indirectly criticised her via his Instagram Stories. Without naming anyone, he wrote, “A replaced actor entertained audiences for around 10 years and was loved throughout. When the first actor steps back into the same character she left 10 years ago and tells the media that the replaced actor lacks comic timing—no ma’am, it’s YOU who lack basic decency. IYKYK (sic).”
Explaining why he shared the note, Jain added, “It’s for learning—for myself and like-minded people. Humility is what counts; everything else is transient (sic).”

Meanwhile, speaking about her decision to leave the show, Shubhangi Atre told Bombay Times, “I’m ending this replacement game now. When Shilpa left, it felt like she handed me a newborn baby. I raised it for 10 years and now I’m returning it to her with values and sanskars. I wish Shilpa and the entire team all the best for version 2.0. She’s a fantastic actor, and I’m genuinely fond of her.”
