The second Test between South Africa and Sri Lanka will take place at the St. George’s Park in Gqberha is all set to get underway on Thursday, December 5. The hosts have already taken a 1-0 lead in the 2-match series with a thumping display in Durban. Both teams found things tough with the first innings but it was the vistors who suffered a mighty collapse at Kingsmead.
Marco Jansen ran through the Sri Lankan batting order with a 7-wicket haul in the first innings which saw the visitors get bundled out for just 42 runs. Temba Bavuma and Tristan Stubbs would score hundreds in the second innings as they scored 366 runs. Sri Lanka would eventually fold for 282 runs as the hosts won the match by 233 runs.
All eyes will now be on the Durban Test, where both teams will have a lot to play for. One more win will see South Africa edge closer to the World Test Championship final spot with a series against Pakistan coming up soon. For Sri Lanka, they will be looking to get a win atleast to keep their WTC hopes alive ahead of their home Test series against Australia next year.
