Meanwhile, whoever wins today between South Africa and West Indies will have a step into the semi-finals, make no mistake. Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell had a brilliant day for Shai Hope’s team against Zimbabwe and helped post 254/6, the second highest score in T20 World Cup history.
South Africa, after finding themselves at 20/3, managed to post a solid score against India thanks to David Miller and Dewald Brewis. Hence, both the teams will be looking for their chances in view of their Super 8 openers. South Africa have played four matches in Ahmedabad this edition but their spinner Keshav Maharaj has denied that they have any clear advantage against the Hope side.
“The four matches we have played here, the conditions have been very different throughout the game. So I don’t see much benefit in it. It’s just about making sure we adapt sooner rather than later than the opponent,” he said.
