Team India`s all-rounder Washington Sundar feels that his side will come victorious in the third Test match against England, despite early blows.
“I mean, we want so many things the way we expect it to be, but yes, we would take it any day. I mean, we`d really come out positive tomorrow. We`ve got some solid batsmen in the dressing room. And yeah, it`s exciting in every way,” Sundar told reporters during the press conference.
“You know, winning a test in Lord`s is going to be amazing. So I think we`re sitting pretty,” he added.
The visitors will resume the final day of the third Test match with a score of 58 runs for the loss of four wickets. KL Rahul is still unbeaten at the crease on a score of 33 runs off 47 deliveries, including six boundaries.
Earlier in the match, India bowled out England for 192 runs in their second innings, thanks to Washington Sundar`s four-wicket haul. The 25-year-old claimed four wickets by conceding 22 runs in 12.1 overs. Lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj bagged two wickets each. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Akash Deep, too, registered one wicket each to their names. Spinner Ravindra Jadeja went wicketless in the hosts` second innings of the third match.
After his four-wicket haul, Sundar revealed that he and Jadeja had earlier decided not to leak many runs.
“The way the fast bowlers came out today and kept the pressure on throughout the day was amazing. The plans for me and Ravindra Jadeja [the spinners] was not to give away too many runs but the way things went for us was very good. We need to do whatever the team demands. It is going to be exciting. We have all day, but there needs to be the perfect plan,” he explained.
He then spoke about his heroics with the ball in the second essay and termed it as one of the best days outside of India.
“I mean, definitely one of the best days with the ball for me, especially outside of India. But yes, definitely had some solid plans coming into this test match and really wanted to execute them both in the first and second innings,” said Sundar.
“Mostly wanted to contribute to the team quite differently in different passages of play. But yes, the way it turned out to be for me as well as the team, the whole day today is really good and very heartening for me,” he concluded.
