India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav scripted a senstional Indian Premier League record when he scored a quickfire 44 in the Qualifier 2 of the 2025 season on Sunday, June 1 against Punjab Kings. Suryakumar became the first batter in the history of the T20 tournament to score 700 runs in a season as a non-opening batter.

In an incredible show of consistency, Suryakumar has scored at least 25 runs in each of his 17 innings in the IPL 2025 season. It was a remarkable effort from Suryakumar, who was struggling for form in the lead-up to the season. The Indian T20I skipper flicked a switch and never stopped making runs for the five-time champions in their resurgent run in the season.
