Swara Bhasker is making headlines not for her acting but for her take on politics. Currently seen on the reality show Pati Patni aur Panga, the actress, who is married to politician Fahad Ahmad, opened up about why she isn’t keen on following her husband into a political career, citing her personality and approach to controversies as key reasons.
Politics is more than power
In conversation with DNA, Swara explained that, in her view, politics goes beyond the pursuit of power or positions. She sees it as a broader responsibility that includes raising awareness, advocating for causes, highlighting important issues, voicing support for them, participating in protests, and engaging directly with the public.
Experience in election campaigns
The actress added that she has never been particularly drawn to electoral politics and sees little personal gain in it. She noted, however, that she was actively involved in her husband Fahad Ahmad’s election campaigns, taking on a variety of responsibilities. Through that experience, she realized just how challenging electoral politics can be and felt that her own personality might not be suited for it.
Personality and patience for politics
She also joked about her own temperament, saying that she often finds herself at the center of controversy simply by speaking her mind. She feels that the patience and restraint required in politics—likened to the legendary Neelkanth, who held poison in his throat—are qualities she does not possess. Swara admitted that constantly handling political controversies would be too challenging for her personality.
