Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has issued a warning ahead of the India clash in the T20 World Cup 2026, saying that the battle between the arch-rivals won’t be a one-sided affair. India have had the upper hand over Pakistan in their recent battles, winning all three games, including the final in the Asia Cup last year. In the last 10 matches between the sides in all formats, India have won 8 matches with Pakistan’s solitary win coming in 2022 and one being a no-result.
It was during the Asia Cup last year that Suryakumar Yadav suggested that India-Pakistan isn’t a rivalry anymore and similar comments were echoed by Tilak Varma and many former cricketers. However, Farhan suggested that Pakistan would turn up and fight during the match on Sunday, February 15 in Colombo. Following the win over the USA, the opener pointed out to the Asia Cup 2025 final, which was a more close contest between both sides.
“I think the way we played in the last Asia Cup, we didn’t play one-sided. We played and fought till the end. We didn’t play a one-sided match till then end and hopefully this time against we’ll play a wonderful game,” said Farhan.
‘IND VS PAK AS A NORMAL MATCH’
Farhan has an impressive record against India, scoring 155 runs in three matches with two fifties and an average of 51.67. During these performances, the Pakistan opener tackled Jasprit Bumrah well along with the rest of the Indian bowling attack.
Despite this, Farhan said that he considers the match against India to be a normal one and the team will play it accordingly.
“I think when you make runs you are confident. I am also very confident and the way the last two innings have gone, I’m very confident. It’s a normal match. We’ll play like a normal match. We won’t put it in our head that this is an India – Pakistan match, it is a normal match and we will play it like a normal match,” said Farhan.
The Pakistan opener had earlier suggested that they would look to play positive and aggressive cricket against India on Sunday.
