Badshah has issued an apology to the National Commission for Women (NCW) in connection with the controversy surrounding his song Tateeree, while also pledging to support the education of 50 girls from economically weaker sections.

The rapper appeared before the commission after it took cognisance of complaints alleging that the song’s lyrics and visuals were objectionable and disrespectful towards women. During the hearing, the panel expressed serious concern over the content, stating that it had hurt “the dignity and decency of women.”
Responding to the criticism, Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, submitted an unconditional written apology along with members of his team. The artist acknowledged the backlash and expressed regret over the impact the song had on society.
As part of his assurance to the commission, Badshah said, “I will work for the upliftment of women and society,” adding that he plans to “present a positive song on women’s empowerment within four months.”
In a significant move, the rapper also committed to sponsoring the education of 50 girls from underprivileged backgrounds. This gesture, he explained, is aimed at contributing positively to society and supporting women’s empowerment in a tangible way.

The controversy around Tateeree began shortly after its release, with multiple complaints filed across states. Critics accused the track of promoting vulgarity and objectifying women, which eventually led to legal scrutiny and intervention by women’s commissions. During the proceedings, the commission also directed those involved to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future. Officials emphasised the responsibility of artists and creators in shaping societal attitudes, especially regarding the portrayal of women.
