Team India reach Manchester seeking series revival in Manchester Test

Team India touched down in Manchester on Sunday as preparations intensify for the pivotal fourth Test of the ongoing five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, scheduled to begin on July 23 at Old Trafford, with India trailing 1-2 in the series.

Among the first to be spotted arriving at the team hotel were captain Shubman Gill and vice-captain Rishabh Pant. They were joined by opening batsmen KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal, both of whom are expected to play a key role in India’s top-order resistance against a disciplined English attack.

Several other notable names also checked in, including left-handed batter Sai Sudharsan and middle-order batsman Karun Nair, both of whom have been drafted into the squad for added depth. Uncapped batter Abhimanyu Easwaran was also seen with the contingent, continuing to remain in contention as a reserve opener.

Promising all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who has impressed in recent domestic outings, was among the new faces arriving in Manchester. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) later released official photos on social media,.

All-rounders Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, and Shardul Thakur were seen arriving in high spirits, along with young wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel, who is also part of the extended squad.

In the bowling department, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, along with Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, and Arshdeep Singh, were seen entering the hotel premises. Left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav also joined the squad and is likely to play a crucial role depending on the surface at Old Trafford.

The team’s arrival comes at a crucial juncture in the series, with India looking to level the scoreline after a narrow defeat in the third Test at Lord’s. In a thrilling contest, India fell short by just 22 runs while chasing a modest target of 193. Despite a lower-order fightback led by Jadeja and the tail, India failed to cross the finish line.

With two matches remaining in the series, the fourth Test becomes a must-win for the visitors if they are to keep the trophy hopes alive. Old Trafford, known to assist both seamers and spinners depending on weather conditions, could present India with an opportunity to bounce back.
