The Election Commission will start counting of votes at 8 am. india news

Bihar Election Result 2025 Live: Election Commission of India will begin counting of votes at 8 am, starting with postal ballots.

Bihar Election Result 2025 Live: Counting of votes for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 will begin at 8 am today. As the counting progresses, the Election Commission of India (ECI) will release seat-wise updates and by evening the trends are likely to indicate who among the top contenders – the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) or the Grand Alliance – is headed for victory.

While most exit polls have shown the ruling NDA as the clear winner, the opposition grand alliance is confident of coming to power, defying projections.

The major players in the ruling NDA are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) and Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). Meanwhile, the opposition mainly consists of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress.

While former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav is the CM face of the India Bloc, the ruling NDA has not made any such announcement. All eyes are also on the future of Nitish Kumar, the opposition has been claiming for a long time that even if the NDA wins, he will not return as the Chief Minister.

Election analyst Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party (JSP) is also in the fray.

Bihar Election Results Live: Raghopur, Mahua, Seemanchal areas are among the major battlegrounds of Bihar

Bihar Election Results Live: With results expected soon, a look at some of the major battlegrounds of Bihar:

Raghopur: Tejashwi Yadav’s stronghold from where he is contesting elections for the third time and his competition is against BJP’s Satish Kumar Yadav. It was long expected that Prashant Kishor would contest from this seat and represent his Jan Suraj Party, but election strategist turned leader Prashant was out of the election this time.

Mahua: Tej Pratap Yadav, expelled from RJD and separated from his family earlier this year, is contesting from Mahua on the ticket of his newly formed party Jan Shakti Janata Dal. With RJD fielding sitting MLA Mukesh Roshan, the constituency has turned into a family versus family fight. Apart from this, Chirag Paswan’s LJP has fielded Sanjay Kumar Singh from Mahua.

Alinagar: Popular folk singer Maithili Thakur is making her electoral debut from Alinagar, where she is contesting against RJD’s Vinod Mishra. Thakur, who calls herself the “daughter of Mithila”, was initially expected to contest from Benipatti in her home district Madhubani, but ultimately got the ticket from Alinagar.

Seemanchal Region: This Bihar region includes some very important seats like Kishanganj, Purnia, Araria and Katihar. Due to the region having a large Muslim population, parties targeted minority votes throughout their campaign here. Prashant Kishor’s JSP made Seemanchal the centerpiece of its campaign, with the leader holding meetings in Araria, Jokihat and Kishanganj. BJP and Congress have also fielded their candidates in Kishanganj and Purnia.

Bihar election results live: Election Commission of India will start counting of votes at 8 am

Bihar Election Results Live: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will begin counting of votes for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly elections at 8 am and trends are likely to be known soon after. ECI will announce the results of the seats throughout the day, so by the evening we will get a clear picture about the winner.

ECI has designated 46 counting centers in 38 districts of the state.

Voting for the Bihar Assembly elections took place in two phases on 6 November and 11 November. While voting was held on 121 seats in the first phase, voting was held on the remaining 122 seats in the second phase.

The Bihar election is being seen as a double contest between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), mainly comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), along with the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) and the grand alliance mainly comprising the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress. Poll analyst Prashant Kishor’s budding Jan Suraj Party (JSP), which was being seen as the ‘kingmaker’, is projected to not get a single seat in the high-stakes elections, according to pollsters’ analysis.
